Ongoing stakeholder engagement activities continue as we work to finalize routing for this project. We have not filed an application with the Virginia State Corporation Commission but plan to do so in Q4 of 2026.
July 2026
On July 14, 2025, the Prince William County Board of Supervisors adopted the following resolution: The Board of County Supervisors Does Not Support and Does Not Intent to Grant Access to County Property or Easements for Proposed Routes 5 and 12 – the Blue and Light Blue Lines for the Nokesville to Bristow 230 Kilovolt (kV) Electric Transmission Project – Brentsville Magisterial District.

Public Engagement Process
Once a project need is identified, conceptual project planning and design begins. Dominion Energy consults with key stakeholders throughout the planning process to gather and incorporate feedback into design plans. Key stakeholders include local, county, and state officials, state and federal agencies, historic preservation and natural resource groups, Native American tribes, and community members.
Dominion Energy encourages all stakeholders to learn more about Price William County Electric Transmission Projects and submit feedback.

The Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) has regulatory authority over all energy providers in Virginia. Among other responsibilities, the SCC validates the need for a proposed line and approves the route and structures. In reviewing a proposed project, the SCC must consider whether potential impacts on scenic assets, historic districts, and the environment have been reasonably minimized.
Once this project is submitted to the SCC, we will post our application and provide a link to the SCC's case docket where you will find documents related to the case, as well as information on how to submit comments.
