Dominion Energy Green Power® for the Government

A Smart Choice for Your Agency

Enroll in the Dominion Energy Green Power® VEPGA, COV, and Large Federal program and match part or all of your energy usage with renewable energy. Your subscription purchases Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) from renewable energy facilities. REC purchases also help support future growth and production of new clean energy technologies.

Enrollment Options

When you purchase RECs through the Dominion Energy Green Power® program, you guarantee that renewable energy was generated and delivered to the power grid on your behalf. You can exclusively claim the environmental benefits associated with that renewable energy production.

Pricing below is effective July 1, 2022.

Block option

You can choose to match some of your energy use with green power by purchasing RECs in fixed $2 increments.

  • Local, state and federal agencies will be charged the same amount each month, or a one-time annual purchase can also be made.
  • Local, state and federal agencies can purchase blocks in 337 kilowatt hour increments for $2 each.
100 percent match option

100% Match

You can choose to match 100% of the energy you use with green power.

  • Local, state and federal agencies will be charged $5.95 per megawatt hour ($0.00595 per kilowatt hour) per month, or a one-time annual purchase can also be made.
  • The amount of RECs purchased is dependent on the amount of energy you use each month.

Qualifying Accounts

The Dominion Energy Green Power® VEPGA, COV, and Large Federal program is available to Counties and Municipalities in the state of Virginia. Look below to learn more about the eligible rate codes for each program.

This voluntary option is a tariff rate negotiated by the Virginia Energy Purchasing Governmental Association (VEPGA). The following County and Municipality rate schedules are eligible to enroll:

  • Schedule 100: ML & P/Traffic Control Service
  • Schedule 110: All Electric Building Service/Dual Fuel
  • Schedule 120: Water & Sewage Pumping Schedule
  • 130: Large ML & P Schedule
  • 131: Thermal Storage Schedule
  • 132: Large Misc. Light & Power Service - Variable Pricing Schedule
  • 134: Large Misc. Light & Power Service - Transmission or Primary Voltage

The charge on an enrolled account will appear as a separate line item on your monthly electric bill as "Green Power (Rider G)."

The following COV rate schedules are eligible to enroll:

  • 5VA
  • 6VA
  • 6TSVA

Dominion Energy Green Power® is also available for Federal Accounts.

Green-e Energy Certified
Dominion Energy Green Power® VEPGA, COV, and Large Federal is Green-e® Energy certified, and meets the environmental and consumer-protection standards set forth by the nonprofit Center for Resource Solutions.

REC Disclosure Information

Your purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) supports renewable electricity production in the region of generation. For every unit of renewable electricity generated, an equivalent amount of RECs is produced, and by purchasing and pairing RECs with your electricity service you are using and receiving the benefits of that renewable electricity. You will continue to receive an electricity bill from your utility for electricity service. Your REC purchase also helps build a market for renewable electricity.

Increased demand for and generation of renewable electricity helps reduce conventional electricity generation in the region where the renewable electricity generator is located. It also has other local and global environmental benefits which may include emitting little or no regional air pollution or carbon dioxide.

The RECs in the Dominion Energy Green Power® VEPGA, COV, and Large Federal program are verified and certified by Green-e® Energy, and we are required to disclose the quantity, type and geographic source of each certificate. See the Product Content Label for this information. Green-e® Energy also verifies that the renewable certificates are not sold more than once or claimed by more than one party.
