To help make closing or transferring the account as simple as possible, please review the information below, then call us at 1-800-251-7231, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and we’ll be glad to assist you.
Close Account
- Stop service at the deceased's address.
- Requires basic info to close the account.
- Best if the home is vacant and no longer needed.
Change Account Owner
- Report deceased customer to close current account and start a new account at the same address.
- For anyone moving in or staying after a loss.
What to Expect
Let the representative know that the account holder has passed away and that you would like to transfer the account into your name.
Information About the Deceased
To assist with the account update, be prepared to provide the following details about your loved one:
- Full name
- Service address
- Date of death
- Account number or Social Security Number
Information About You (the Requester)
To verify your identity and process the request, the representative will ask for the following information:
- Full name
- Relationship to the deceased
- Email address
- Mailing address
- Social Security Number (used for identity verification through Equifax)
- Phone Number
