Electric Furnace to Heat Pump Rebate

Get a $650 rebate when you replace your electric furnace with a new ENERGY STAR® qualified heat pump.

Important: To be eligible for this rebate, your new ENERGY STAR® qualified heat pump must replace an older, all electric furnace that only heats with electric heat strips. Please refer to your contractor for additional details.

Eligibility

  • You must be a Dominion Energy South Carolina electric residential customer.
  • All equipment must be new and must be installed prior to the submission of the rebate application. Only ENERGY STAR® qualified/AHRI rated heat pumps will qualify.
  • Equipment MUST be installed by a Licensed Mechanical Contractor.
  • To be eligible for a rebate, installed ENERGY STAR® qualified heat pumps must replace an electric furnace. This program does not allow fuel switching or provide rebates for new ENERGY STAR® qualified heat pumps that do not replace an electric furnace.
  • Applicants must submit a completed Electric Furnace to Heat Pump Rebate Application along with a copy of proof of purchase (detailed installation invoice) within 90 days of installation.

Yes, a licensed mechanical contractor must perform the work. We do not provide rebates for self-installed or DIY projects.
Think of an electric furnace like a large hair dryer. Air gets pulled over electric heating elements, which heat the air, and then the hot air gets pushed into rooms through a system of duct work. Today's heat pump can reduce your electricity use for heating by approximately 50% compared to electric resistance heating such as electric furnaces and baseboard heaters.

No, you must receive residential electric service from Dominion Energy South Carolina.
