Environmental Stewardship Grants

Funding for projects that support the environment

Environmental Stewardship is one of the four focus areas of the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation.

In 2023, the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation awarded more than $1 million in environmental grants to nonprofit organizations and public and private K-12 schools to support programs that educate students and the public about environmental science, protect and preserve natural habitats, improve open spaces and make nature accessible.

Some of Our Recipients Include:

  • Bray Hollow Foundation, Inc. (NC) will implement the Bertie to Sea program for middle and high school students examining water, soil and ecosystem qualities through field trips, simulations, and research.
  • Charleston County Parks Foundation (SC) will implement the Motus Wildlife Tracking System at Caw Caw Interpretive Center, which uses radio telemetry stations to track movements of small migratory animals, including birds, bats, and butterflies.
  • Friends of Hollywood Cemetery (VA) will restore 4.5-acres of green space known as Long Bottom and improve accessibility for all visitors.
  • Friends of the Occoquan (VA) will implement “Blooms and Barrels: Empowering Communities through Water Conservation” program that promotes sustainable practices for waterways.
  • Niantic River Watershed Committee (CT) will update the outdoor stormwater classroom at the Hole-in-the-Wall parking lot located in downtown Niantic, CT, adjacent to the Long Island Sound and install a pollinator garden.
  • Saluda Shoals Foundation (SC) will enhance nature trails, install interpretive signage, and increase accessibility at the Saluda Shoals Park.
  • Sustainable Chesapeake (VA) will engage farmers throughout Virginia to demonstrate innovative strategies to plant cover crops and host farm field days.
  • The Nature Conservancy in South Carolina (SC) will facilitate a comprehensive approach to land protection to protect forests in the watershed that are important for drinking water.
