How can we help you?
Applying for a Grant
Grants from the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation are distributed in four focus areas (human needs, environmental stewardship, education, community vitality) and are limited to organizations defined as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code.
Grant applications will be accepted online during two annual grant cycles, one in the spring and one in the fall.
Most grant awards range from $1,000 to $15,000, while higher amounts may be awarded when a program is an exceptional fit. We often receive funding requests far in excess of our Foundation budget. Regrettably we must often decline support for otherwise worthy proposals. Such a response does not reflect on Dominion Energy's view of the value of the organization or its services.
New for 2025
Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation now requires organizations applying for grants to have a completed cause profile with Benevity.
If your organization already has a Benevity cause profile, ensure your Self-Certification Declaration is completed. If your declaration is expired, you will need to renew it. Please do so before starting your grant application. You will not be able to apply until these responses are completed.

Grant Eligibility
The primary interest of our foundation is to support programs and specific projects. Consequently, support of capital campaigns is limited and provided on an exceptional basis. We do not typically fund university research projects or endow chairs.

Foundation grant support is NOT available to:

Note to organizations in Ohio, Utah, and North Carolina:
Enbridge completed the acquisitions of Dominion Energy Ohio, Dominion Energy Utah/Wyoming/Idaho and Dominion Energy North Carolina gas in 2024, and today these utilities are operating as Enbridge Gas Ohio, Enbridge Gas Utah/Wyoming/Idaho and Enbridge Gas North Carolina.
Due to this transition, the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation is no longer making grants in these areas. We continue to make grants in northeastern North Carolina where Dominion Energy is still the electric service provider.
Enbridge is committed to maintaining a significant presence in the communities it serves. For more information about Enbridge’s giving focus areas, eligibility guidelines and how to apply for funding, visit Enbridge Gas.
