Electric demand is growing across Central Virginia. The Zeus Electric Transmission Project will help keep power reliable, flexible, and ready for growth.
Project Details
Dominion Energy is proposing the Zeus 230 kV Electric Transmission Project to help meet growing electricity needs in the Piedmont region and support continued economic development. This project will also support continued reliability and operation flexibility throughout the electric grid.
Key project components include:
- A new substation to reinforce the electric distribution network.
- A new, double-circuit 230 kV transmission line and new right of way corridor to connect the new substation to the existing electric transmission grid.

The Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) has regulatory authority over all energy providers in Virginia. Among other responsibilities, the SCC validates the need for a proposed line and approves the route and structures. In reviewing a proposed project, the SCC must consider whether potential impacts on scenic assets, historic districts and the environment have been reasonably minimized.
