Timeline

• January 2021 - Crews are installing foundations and staging materials in the right of way as we prepare for structure installation on Phase 1. Danger tree removal and access installation are also underway on Phase 1.
• March 2021- Project update postcard sent to landowners.
• April 2021 - Work is wrapping up on phase 1 from Staunton-Verona. Crews will be starting to work on phase 2 from Verona-Weyers Cave.

The Staunton-Harrisonburg 115 kV line was originally built in 1958 using wooden H-frame structures. Although the line and its components have been well-maintained, they are at the end of their service life and need to be replaced to maintain reliability for over 7,500 customers served by Dominion Energy and Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative substations along the corridor. The line was originally constructed using wooden H-frames and will likely be replaced with weathering steel H-frames and monopole structures.

• Project area is 22.8 miles long
• Right of way width is primarily 100 feet wide with some 150-foot sections
• Average structure height is 53.4 feet
• 205 structures in the corridor

Proposed Transmission Corridor Conditions

• Weathering steel H-frame structures
• Utilizes existing right of way corridor
• Average proposed structure height is 66 feet
