How can we help you?
Remington - Marsh Run 230kV Transmission Project (Line 299 Rebuild)
Dominion Energy is making important upgrades to the electric transmission system in Fauquier County to keep your power reliable and support future growth in this growing community.
We will be rebuilding and upgrading two existing 230 kilovolt (kV) transmission lines that run between the Marsh Run Combustion Turbine (CT) and Remington CT substations.
Work will take place entirely in the existing right of way, and no new right of way will be needed.
Specifically, as part of this project, Dominion Energy is planning for the following improvements:
- Upgrading approximately 1.7 miles of an existing 230 kV transmission line with newer, more efficient materials and equipment.
- Making similar upgrades to a second, nearby 230 kV transmission line that runs for about 1.2 miles and mostly shares the same route and structures as the first.
- Replacing 11 existing structures and installing 7 new ones to support the upgraded lines.
These upgrades are necessary to continue to provide reliable power to the community and to meet national electric reliability standards. The project is designed to stay within the current right of way, reducing environmental disturbance and eliminating the need to expand the footprint of the transmission lines.
These improvements are necessary to prevent potential reliability issues and to make sure we can continue meeting the growing electricity needs of our area as outlined by PJM standards.

Public Engagement Process
Once a project need is identified, conceptual project planning and design begins. Dominion Energy consults with key stakeholders throughout the planning process to gather and incorporate feedback into design plans. Key stakeholders include local, county, and state officials, state and federal agencies, historic preservation and natural resource groups, Native American tribes, and community members.
Dominion Energy encourages all stakeholders to learn more about Fauquier County, Prince William County and Loudoun County Electric Transmission Projects and submit feedback. You can contact the project team by email at powerline@dominionenergy.com or telephone 888-291-0190.
