Goose Creek Reservoir Rebuild
The replacement of a transmission line crossing the Goose Creek Reservoir will enhance wind resistance during severe weather and provide more reliable and resilient power to the Charleston region.
Project Overview
At Dominion Energy, we are dedicated to finding the best solution for the long-term energy needs within the communities we serve. As we remain focused on reliability and resiliency, we have identified a transmission line in Berkeley County crossing the Goose Creek Reservoir for replacement. This project will enhance wind resistance during severe weather and provide more reliable and resilient power to the Charleston region.
Dominion Energy and its contractors will replace existing 230-kilovolt (kV) and 115-kV wooden structures along two sections of line with self-supporting galvanized steel poles. The mile-long sections each cross the reservoir in Hanahan. The new line will be designed to meet all modern electric codes as well as provide additional reliability to our customers. The rebuilt lines will be constructed along existing right of way.
Letters will be sent out to impacted property owners along the route as DESC progresses through its construction.

Benefits
- Maintains current right of way.
- New structures located in the same general location as existing structures.
- Complies with mandatory standards to ensure safety, reliability and to meet future needs.

Timeline
- Construction will begin in summer 2025 and continue until the end of the year. In addition to weekdays and normal work hours, weekend work hours may be necessary to meet critical project schedules.
