How can we help you?
Charlottesville Substation
Project Overview
To reinforce the exterior of the Charlottesville Substation control enclosure, protecting substation equipment from natural and man-made risks.
Control Enclosures
Control enclosures are a standard feature in electric substations and support safe electric grid operation. Charlottesville Substation’s control enclosure houses system protection equipment and has been in service for nearly 75 years. We plan to encapsulate the brick control enclosure building with a metal exterior. Reinforcing the building exterior will protect substation equipment from natural and man-made electromagnetic pulses, improving grid security.
Benefits
- Complies with mandatory standards to ensure safety, reliability and to meet future needs
- Minimizes impact to the community and environment
