Cemetery Road

230 kV Transmission Line and Substation

Project Overview

We are building a new Cemetery Road 115 kilovolt (kV) Substation southeast of Chase City in Mecklenburg County, Virginia. This project will improve electric reliability for all area customers. Cemetery Road Substation will serve a new natural gas compressor station, which was approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

We are also building an approximately 0.1-mile 115 kV transmission line from a nearby line to connect the new substation to the electric grid.

Benefits

  • Complies with mandatory standards to ensure safety, reliability and to meet future needs
  • Minimizes impact to the community and environment
  • Strengthens area reliability

Timeline

  • Fall 2022: Site surveying
  • Early 2023: Soil boring
  • Early 2024: Begin substation and transmission line tap construction activities
