Beaumeade - Pleasant View

Project Overview

This project concluded in early June 2022. The W&OD Trail, from Rolling Water Terrace to west of Battlefield Parkway, was closed in spring 2022 from Monday, April 11 through Friday, April 15 and Monday, April 18 through Friday, April 22. During this work, Trail users were detoured approximately 8.5 miles onto streets, sidewalks and shared-use paths. The Trail was not be accessible from east of Claiborne Parkway to Tuscarora Park in Leesburg. To ensure the safety of pedestrians and cyclists, flaggers and spotters were onsite, and detour signs were posted at specific locations.

During spring 2022:

  • Sections of the paved trail may be closed and detoured to the gravel path
  • The gravel path may be closed while the paved trail remains open
  • Trail traffic may be intermittently halted for a maximum of 15 minutes

The 8.5-mile detour is in place for trail users in 2022 beginning April 11 through April 15 and April 18 through April 22, not including weekends. During construction, please obey all flagger instructions and signage. Detour signs were posted. An interactive detour map was available online, and neighbors received a follow-up postcard with more detailed information. Dominion Energy and NOVA Parks appreciate your patience as we worked to complete this important project.

Beginning in March, 2022, Dominion Energy will begin to replace overhead wires along the W&OD Trail in Loudoun County. This project is necessary to ensure the continued integrity of the electric grid. Linemen will use bucket trucks and also climb the structures to remove conductor and associated electrical equipment. This work will occur for 2.5 miles along the W&OD Trail. During the week of April 11-15, trail users will be detoured approximately 8.5 miles onto streets, sidewalks and shared-use paths. The trail will not be accessible from east of Claiborne Parkway to Tuscarora Park in Leesburg.
