EnergyShare® is a year-round program of last resort that helps pay energy bills for any type of cooling and heating source for those who qualify.
What is EnergyShare®?
EnergyShare® is our comprehensive energy assistance program designed as a resource that helps qualified customers facing financial hardship, regardless of income. Applications are open year-round and are submitted to local agencies who deliver EnergyShare® program funding. The program’s available assistance includes bill payment assistance and no-cost home energy efficiency upgrades.
- No income restrictions for bill payment assistance recipients
- Must demonstrate a financial hardship
- Must have a disconnection notice, need services restored, or need help with a payment plan
- Must be a resident in Dominion Energy's service area
How Does It Work?
EnergyShare® provides assistance to customers in two different ways:
1. Bill Payment Assistance
EnergyShare® is a program of last resort that helps pay energy bills for any type of cooling and heating source. EnergyShare® is not income based so any customer facing financial hardship is eligible to apply.
Customer applications are reviewed on a case-by-case basis by our partner agencies to determine eligibility. If approved, the benefit is paid directly to the customer's energy provider.
Individuals 60 and older may be eligible for additional assistance. Military veterans and those individuals living with disabilities may qualify for an additional $500 benefit if participating in the voucher programs of the Virginia Department of Veteran Services or the Virginia Department of Aging and Rehabilitative Services’ Centers for Independent Living.

2. Weatherization
Customers who receive EnergyShare® bill payment assistance are eligible to receive a free home energy assessment and the installation of free energy efficiency upgrades to help save on their energy costs.
Dominion Energy works with a network of certified weatherization providers to perform the energy assessment of your home. Observations made during the assessment determine the specific energy efficiency upgrades that will reduce your home’s energy consumption and lower your utility costs.

- Hot Water Pipe Wrap Insulation
- Hot Water Heater Tank Wrap
- Heat Pump Tune-Up
- A/C Tune-Up
- Air and Duct Sealing
- ENERGY STAR® Refrigerator Replacement
- High Efficiency Central Furnace Fan Motor Replacement
* Installed measures are based on observations made during the home energy audit.
How to Apply
For help paying your bill:
Find your local EnergyShare® agency by calling 2-1-1 or visiting 211virginia.org for a referral.
For help improving your home’s energy efficiency (weatherization):
Call 1-888-366-8280 and select the Income and Age Qualifying option where you will receive a referral to a weatherization provider in your area.
